（1）less是little 的比較級(jí)。
（2）to live on不定式短語，在此句中作land 的定語，意為“可居住的”。起形容詞的作用，在英語中，動(dòng)詞不定式作后置定語，修飾前面的名詞或代詞時(shí)，他們之間構(gòu)成邏輯上的動(dòng)賓關(guān)系，若動(dòng)詞為不及物動(dòng)詞，要在其后加相應(yīng)的介詞。

4. The plants in the countryside are more beautiful than those in the city.
Those代替的是前面提到的plants,以避免重復(fù)。若代替的是單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞或不可數(shù)名詞，則用that .
